The Wellcome Trust’s 75th Anniversary…

2011 was the 75th Anniversary of the Wellcome Trust:

Last year marked our 75th birthday, and we invited nine Wellcome Trust-funded centres across the UK to help us celebrate. During September – December 2011 the centres went out into their local communities to tell the story of the past 75 years of biomedicine and the challenges that the next 75 years will bring.

To celebrate they made a short film that is well worth watching:

This film by Keira Freeman shows a sample of what they got up to and what breadth of activities ‘public engagement’ can encompass. The Centres’ ideas ranged from school visits and A-level study days to panel discussions and exhibitions.
